All the watchfaces I've seen, including the default, have the American date format month/day. Are there any with the UK date format day/month?

Majority of custom WFs I've seen have DD-MM format (except the inbuilt ones) or offer both formats. You can always try leaving a comment under the particular WF which you like and author might update it. As the last resort, you can unpack, modify and repack the WF.
Btw. don't be fooled by the WF picture, download section has often more variants available than displayed.
