Descripción
I really like the ochs und junior brand. Dr. Ludwig Oechslin is a well known and respected name in the Swiss watch industry.
Instead of designing complications with as many polished parts as possible, he totally goes the other way. Based on bought in quality Swiss calibres, he adds as little extra components as possible to create new functions. Extremely minimalistic design. Even the finishing of the materials does not try to hide what it's made of, and what tooling was used. It's 'form follows function' and 'less is more'. Industrial design engineering at its very best.
Take this Two Time zone GMT: You read local time by the hands, but with the rotating disc you can set a second time zone (turn it by pressing the buttons at 3 and 9 o'clock).
If you do not adjust the time zone, the hour disc shows you the hours as expected (12 o'clock top position).
But if I want to see New York time (-6 hours for my location), I press the 3 o'clock button to advance the hour disc 6 hours clockwise (meaning the numer at 12 o'clock is counting down). Now the hour hand shows you the time in NYC when looking at the hour disc. Minutes are as usual.
If I want Beijing time (+8 for my local time), I press the button at 9 o'clock to advance the hour disc 8 times counterclockwise.
The watch face gives you feedback by showing you Δ (delta) time. There's no AM/PM indicator, so you have to figure that out yourself. But if you wear ochs und junior I'm sure you're smart enough.
Cheers!
