Description
In 1954, airlines started to fly over the North pole to shorten flight times.
At that time, it was quite an operation. Flying over the pole tended to influence time keeping instruments, including the pilots' watches (because of the changes in the magnetic field).
A then 23 year old Swiss guy named Gérald Genta was asked to design an anti-magnetic pilot watch for Universal Geneve. Now this was not the first anti-magnetic watch, but Genta's design immediately became a hit. Later Genta would write history as a watch designer, sketching up the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Phillipe's Nautilus. To name a few.
The name Polarouter was later changed to Polerouter, and many variations were made. Still it is an iconic watch that started the career of one of the most influential designers.
My version of the watch face has dynamic shadows and just the right amount of patina. Looks very good on the wrist!
PS: feel free send me a comment or review. I'm willing to adapt a watch face if it has the right amount of downloads.
