Ha! I made this one a full AOD. Here you can see the difference dynamic shading makes.
In night mode there's no shading, and it just flattens the whole watch. I used to add shadows directly to the pointers. That works, but it looks very unnatural as some shadows will be up and others down. Dynamic FTW!
