Description
Completely insane project, this one.
I wanted to see if it would be possible to shrink this massively complex watch into 480 x 480 pixels. And to reconstruct all animations with ' real' digital parts. In other words: no use of frame by frame animations, but moving parts and masking.
The Carpe Diem has a lot of motions. all activated by a dedicated pusher on the watch. To speed things up a bit -because you do not want to stare at the hour glass until your battery drains- i play the animations automatically.
I ran into multiple problems with this project. Both graphics and scripting. Ran into the limit of animations Zepp OS allows (at least I think so, it may be a scripting error as well). I really tried, but the Zepp emulator is a mess.
Features:
- the tail of the snake shows the minutes (working)
- the head of the snake moves to reveal the hours (normally activated by a pusher) (working)
- the yaw of the skull drops to reveal the Carpe Diem text (working)
- the eye of the skull winks (working, but I had to give up two animations in favor of the hour glass)
- the hour glass shows the power reserve. (working, but I just play the animation instead of the battery level)
Of course this is just a proof of concept. This thing will drain your battery in no time.
Besides that, I think it's extremely ugly (at a 'retail price' somewhere between 450 and 500 thousand(! THOUSAND) dollars!) Check it out, and then choose a sensible watch face. ;-)
(As a side note: if you look at ' skull watches' available, they are ALL very ugly. I might pick this up in future projects to see if I can make something more pleasing to the eye.) It's not that I'm particularly 'into' skulls, but -darn- they've made some ugly ones!
Cheers!
