Amazfit 5 can't sync new watch face, also causes disconnect

Everything seemed to work ok until I tried to change my watch face. It starts syncing, stops at 5% on the app, then the watch displays "couldn't sync". Then my watch disconnects from the app and has to reconnect.

The watch faces I try to sync show up under the download record, but I can't get them on my band. Everything is up to date.

My wife was able to change her watch face once when she first got it and when she tried to change it today, the same thing is happening.

I'm surprised something that seems so simple isn't working.

Any advice?
