How use watch faces for Huawei gt2 with Huawei phone? Please help

Hello
My name is Henrico and I’m from Holland.
I have an Huawei P smart+ phone and tomorrow (2 januari 2021) I will receive my Huawei watch GT2.
When I was searching on google how to change watch faces I stumbled on this site.
For what I see now I really love it, but here comes the question.
Can I changes watch faces on my Huawei watch gt2 using my Huawei P smart+ phone??
Because I read a lot that it’s not possible on Huawei phones.
I looked at many videos on YouTube and most of them say it has to be rooted?
I tried it but keep getting message root failed.
Do I really need to root?
I really want to use different watch faces because there are so many nice ones here.

Hi new to this myself as far as I know if you use a Huawei phone you have to stick to the ones that are on your health app.
The way I do it I put the modded health app on an old samsung s6 phone I had stuck in a drawer, so when I want to put a custom face on i disconnect from my P30 then reconnect on the s6 do what i need then when do disconnect s6 and go back to pro.
