I don't install with a QR code. I find it too troublesome.
I download the .zip files on my phone then install them with the Notify for Amazfit app. (On Android, you have to clear data/cache for the Zepp app -- or just uninstall it then reinstall it when finished -- first because both apps can't run at the same time.)

QR code install is the easiest, takes 2 seconds.
Why would you do it the hard way? Must be because you're using Notify.

Funny how scanning a QR code for a few seconds — even with a short ad — is “too troublesome,” but manually downloading ZIPs, clearing Zepp cache, uninstalling, reinstalling, and using another app somehow isn’t
To each their own, but QR is still by far the simplest method.

I think I'd been having problems with the Android app not working properly so I've been doing the roundabout way.

Yeah, that does explain it a bit better. But if the our app wasn’t working properly, we could’ve helped — assuming we knew there was a problem! If you ever feel like giving it another go, just let us know what went wrong. Otherwise — fair enough, enjoy the roundabout routetaw_bip wrote: 06 Jul 2025, 21:10Well, when you put it that way. lol.GIK-Team wrote: 06 Jul 2025, 20:51Funny how scanning a QR code for a few seconds — even with a short ad — is “too troublesome,” but manually downloading ZIPs, clearing Zepp cache, uninstalling, reinstalling, and using another app somehow isn’ttaw_bip wrote: 06 Jul 2025, 20:20

OK, so when I try to install a GTR 4 watchface onto my Active 2 with Amazfaces. I press the down arrow icon and sit through the Last War ad and it makes me want to end my life. Then nothing happens. So I press on the "Install watch face" button and it gives a long page of troubleshooting tips.
So then I select "Show QR code on watch" and watch another terrible ad. But it's not clear how to scan the code from the Zepp app. I've gotten the QR List app on my watch. Then ... what?
So that's why I just download the .zip files and install them with Notify.

The problem is that "QR List" is outdated and no longer supported. You need to install the latest QR Faces app on your watch.taw_bip wrote: 06 Jul 2025, 21:51OK, so when I try to install a GTR 4 watchface onto my Active 2 with Amazfaces. Here’s the correct step-by-step guide for installing via QR:
1. Enable Developer Mode in Zepp:
Open the Zepp app
Go to Profile > Settings > About
ap the Zepp logo multiple times until Developer Mode is activated
2. Scan the QR code:
Open the QR scanner from the Zepp app itself
Scan the QR I’ll send you below
Spoiler
3. (Optional) Install manually if scanning fails:
Click here to download the file
In the Zepp Developer Mode, choose Install File and pick the one you downloaded
Let’s try it this way – it really is the easiest method once set up. If anything still doesn’t work, I’m here to help.

I don't have an "Install File" option from Developer mode unless I'm missing it somehow. I press the + sign and have Scan, Bridge, Device Information and js log level.
Lastly, I went into Amazfaces and tried the manual install for downloaded files. When I select the watchface and hit "Install watch face" it hangs on "Start connecting" then gives the troubleshooting page.

When you press “Install watch face via QR” in AmazFaces (android/ios app), here’s what should happen:taw_bip wrote: 07 Jul 2025, 12:05What is "QR Faces" and where do I find it? Is it Android or a Zepp app? I tried scanning the QR code in the Zepp app but nothing happens.

1. You choose the watchface file (if available multiple versions).
2. You watch an ad (if applicable).
3. A toast message appears with a short instruction and a “First Time Setting Up?” link.
• Step 1: How to activate Developer Mode in Zepp
• Step 2: Where to download and install the QR Faces app (it’s a small app that runs on your watch, not Android or Zepp)
• Step 3: How the whole system works together
Once you’ve done those 3 steps, you’ll be able to install watchfaces via QR in just seconds — no more hassle. If anything goes wrong along the way, let me know and I’ll guide you further.
Also, if you already scanned the QR code I sent earlier using the Zepp app, it’s possible that QR Faces is already installed on your watch — it just doesn’t launch automatically.
Try opening the list of apps on your watch and look for something like “QR Faces” — if it’s there, you’re good to go and can proceed with scanning QR codes from AmazFaces. Let me know if you find it!

Developer mode is enabled. I see QR Faces is on my watch although it asks for a pin which I have no idea about.
I'm not having any luck. When I go to "Connected devices" Amazfaces doesn't see my watch and goes to a troubleshooting page. The Zepp app sees my watch. It's connected on Bluetooth. I'm not sure why Amazfaces doesn't see it.
I wiped the Amazfaces storage (app/cache) and logged in again but no luck. I wiped the Zepp storage and tried Amazfaces again, no luck.
The Notify developer said the newer Zepp models don't allow multiple apps to connect to watches, which is why I've resorted to using the method where I wipe the Zepp app/cache storage.
The one wrinkle with the Notify app is you need to enter the Xiaomi pairing key for it to connect to the watch. I just tried Notify and it allowed me to install a couple watchfaces.

The issue here is that you’re mixing up two different installation methods. The “Connected devices” section and Bluetooth sync are not relevant when you’re using the QR method — that’s an entirely different setup.taw_bip wrote: 07 Jul 2025, 14:46Developer mode is enabled. Here’s what you need to do now (and yes, it’s all explained in the “First Time Setting Up?” link you seem to be skipping):
1. Open AmazFaces and click “Install using QR” on any watch face.
2. When prompted select the version (if available), watch the ad.
3. You’ll see a PIN displayed on that screen — that’s the one you need.
4. On your watch, open QR Faces and enter that same PIN.
5. That’s it! The app will now generate a permanent QR code that you can scan with the Zepp app to install faces in the future.
6. Every time you try to install a new watch face via QR, the code will update on our servers and point to the latest face.
Everything is shown clearly in the video tutorial linked in the app. If you follow these steps without jumping ahead or mixing methods, you’ll have it working in seconds. Let me know if you’re stuck at a specific step.

Well, part of the issue is the lack of a streamlined approach, gaps in the documentation process and outdated/inaccurate information in the documentation. And I'm familiar with the passive aggressive "turn the tables" approach to demean users when they can't follow a convoluted process.GIK-Team wrote: 07 Jul 2025, 15:40The issue here is that you’re mixing up two different installation methods. You neglect to mention the part where you can't scan in the QR code unless you've got a second screen to load it.
If it takes someone a couple days and multiple message exchanges to get an application working, then just maybe some refinement from the developer is in order.

Understand your frustration — but everything you mentioned (including the need for a second screen to scan the QR code) is clearly documented and shown in the installation guide and video. The issue isn’t gaps in the process — it’s that it wasn’t followed.taw_bip wrote: 07 Jul 2025, 21:34Well, part of the issue is the lack of a streamlined approach and the gaps in the documentation process. We’re aware this method isn’t ideal, but unfortunately it’s the only way currently possible due to restrictions from the manufacturer. We do our best to make it as simple and documented as we can — and we always help when users genuinely try to follow the steps. If you have suggestions to improve it, we’re all ears. But blaming the method while ignoring the provided instructions doesn’t really help anyone.

I'm now on Day 2 of the "easy" method. I just followed the video instructions and it's not working. And the helpful message from the app tells me to use the "QR List" app from the Zepp store. No need for an update there. And the Zepp app doesn't let me load a QR file from a file. Just to clarify — so after all that, you still weren’t able to install any watch face using the QR method?taw_bip wrote: 07 Jul 2025, 21:48I'm now on Day 2 of the "easy" method. Also, could you please show where exactly you saw the message in the app about using the “QR List” app from the Zepp Store? That app is outdated and no longer supported, so if you genuinely saw it somewhere, we need to fix that.
If something is actually incorrect or unclear, please point it out specifically — we’re always open to improving the guide.
Vague criticism doesn’t help. Our installation guide (including video instructions) is updated regularly based on real feedback. If instructions were ignored or skipped, that’s a different matter.

You'll probably see I'm someone who frequently comments to help other people on this board. But being treated like an idiot who didn't have the brain power to follow this very simple setup process just doesn't sit well with me for some reason, so I'm done with this thread.

We’re genuinely sorry you feel that way — that was never our intention. We tried to guide you step by step through a setup that works for thousands of users, and we answered every question you asked, including repeating steps and clarifying unclear parts.taw_bip wrote: 08 Jul 2025, 11:39You'll probably see I'm someone who frequently comments to help other people on this board. It’s frustrating when things don’t work — we understand that. But it’s equally frustrating for us when, after days of support, we’re told we treated you like an idiot, especially when no such tone was ever used.
For anyone reading: everything shared here — the QR method, the install steps, and support links — is part of the official setup. It works, and we’re always improving it. If something doesn’t work, we’re happy to help — as long as there’s a dialogue.
P.S. If anything i said came across as condescending — that wasn’t our intention at all. I sincerely try to help every user as clearly and directly as possible. Sometimes tone can be misread online — apologies if that happened here.

Your persistence is truly inspiring! If you could send us a few screenshots and let us know which version of AmazFaces you have on your phone (or even record a short video), it would help us understand your situation much faster.
We're also genuinely curious why your watch has an older app version.
Please let us know how much time you’d need to help us solve this together!
