Always-on bug or confusing UX? [SOLVED]

Hi There, new to the Balance but having trouble with always-on.

I'm using the 'Simple Pilot 3D 24 big' watch face installed via the official Zepp app but the always-on feature won't use this face?

If I choose 'Follow current watch face' the watch defaults to one of the built-in faces after 10sec despite those faces being off. Have tried setting this via the app, and on the watch but no joy.

Is there a way to force the Balance to use my chosen watch face in always-on mode but dimmed?

Or is there a way to download the 'Simple Pilot 3D 24 big' watch face and edit it so it can be used as an always-on face? And if so, how?

This watch face can be unpacked with sasha's editor.

This dial as far as I can see It doesn't have the AOD part, so it might cause the problem you mentioned.
However, you can add AOD part on it by yourself.

After unpack it, you can add the AOD section yourself.
AOD --> Copy items to AOD
