How to install watchfaces (Bip, Verge Lite, GTR, GTS, T-Rex, Cor, Mi Band 4)

Detailed instructions for installing custom watch faces on Amazfit GTR, GTS, T-Rex, Verge Lite, Amazfit Bip smartwatches, and Cor and Mi Band 4 smart bracelets.

Note! At the moment, the instruction is relevant only for Zepp (Amazfit)

For a successful installation, you need to connect your gadget to a smartphone on Android or IOS with the Amazfit (Zepp) app installed. You also need to have installed file manager and pre-download the watch face that you would like to set on your watch.

Installation for Android

1. First, you need to install one of the stock watch faces available in Zepp (Amazfit)/Mifit (if you have already installed one, you may skip this step).
2. Open the folder with the downloaded watch face in the file manager with the path:
   • Zepp (Amazfit) /Android/data/com.huami.watch.hmwatchmanager/files/watch_skin_local/
   • Mi Fit /Android/data/com.xiaomi.hm.health/files/watch_skin_local/
   There you will find folders with downloaded stock watch faces.
3. Go to any of these folders and find the .bin file. Copy the .bin file name.
   • Name example for bin: 4lIYUjzg3Vwqt8tJU9sYLeOSqUSAreJNzUxJhxgM.bin
   • Name example for zip: UQkNrGEQmaPvYbLmGseWkOkUCHDDkOBf.zip
4. Go to the custom watch face and rename it using the name of the standard watch face.
5. Copy the watch face file with the new name and transfer it to the folder from step 3 with a replacement.
6. Open the Zepp (Amazfit)/Mifit app and install the stock watch face, which file you replaced.

This method does not work on android 11 and above!

Note! The preview image will not change.

I have the zepp app, don't see the pad in the file manager.
Is this working in the zepp app and is the GTR 2(e) supported by this?

When trying to UPLOAD - as per video - there is no option to download to phone / file manager is what he probably meant as I also have no option to store on phone. Only options to chose from is the notify app. However, this wont install the watchface...

Or at leas let us install watchfaces while is "ONMOD" because we can not test it :/

These instructions no longer work as of today the Zepp app does not use the watch_skin_local/ for the GTR3. it seems to pull the file from the zepp cloud each time.

Which version you encountered this problem?
I am currently using Zepp Version 6.9.2-play.
I can also use zepp to upload watchface from Folder watch_skin_local/ xxx/ to my watch GTR3 normally

I test again :
After removing all the watch faces and doing re-download will not be able to use the same method again.

Hello, has anyone had any luck installing watchface on a GTR? I have tried for hours and literally nothing works. Android device 12.(something). Very frustrating. Tried to replace file with pc as well. Will not work. Help!

As of today it's not possible to replace the original wf on the GTR3 Pro.
I kept searching for a new location but can't find it.

Also there is a new text under the original faces, it says free.

If they actually gonna do this they are going after huawei's method and we need a cracked version of the Zepp app and have to be ready for payed watchfaces.

I guess they need more income?
I hope I am wrong but it doesn't look like it for now.

I figured out how to install custom watch faces on GTR 2, tested on Android 11 with latest Zepp app from Google Play Store. But you must be rooted...

Install Root Explorer and go to this path:

Code: Select all

/data/user/0/com.huami.watch.hmwatchmanager/files/watch_skin_local/

Here you can replace original downloaded watch face with custom one.

Finally synchronize using Zepp app and you are done!

Hi guys,
I struggle quite a bit to load a custom watch face on my Mi band 7.
Here the steps I did:

• Connected the Android phone, which had the new Mi Fit app installed, to the laptop.
  Went to /Android/data/_the_mi_app_/watchfaces/ and switched the current installed watchface with the custom watchface. - (renamed the original, the custom one had the naming from the original)
  Synchronized the watchface from the app to the watch - Same original watchface, not the new one.

• Installed the Zepp life app and deinstalled the new mi fit app from the android phone.
  Also resettet the watch and loaded a couple of watchfaces to the watch.
  Connected the android phone with the laptop, went to /Android/data/com.xiaomi.hm.health/files.
  No "watch_skin_local" folder there, so I created one, created an additional folder and pasted the custom binary there.
  Restarted the app, no "Local watch faces" tab there.
  The app seems to only store the watch faces online, no watch faces cache on the phone, nothing.
  I disconnected the Mi Fit account within the app and switched watch faces.
  I went to airplane mode but activated bluetooth again.
  Was not able to enter the "store", no _local_ watch faces were shown ether. - Also not within the "watch_skin_local" folder.

• Installed the AmazFaces app for android.
  Set the Mi Band 7 visable for incoming BT connections.
  Made the proper in app configurations regarding permissions, (BT)Mac adress, using app and enabled all background permissions.
  Selected a custom Mi Band 7 watchface from the AmazFit app, (tried this with a few ones), clicked on "download".
  As soon as the app connects to the Mi Band 7, the app crashes (minimizes itself and backs out of the connection tab).
  Tried this with the Zepp life app in background and with the Zepp life app closed.
  Also factory resetted the Mi Band 7 between each app installation / deinstallation circle.

Is there a proper way to load custom watch faces to the Mi Band 7 that I have not tried yet?
I used the latest app versions of every used app on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro, Android 11 and have the latest firmware on the Mi Band 7 (EU version(?)).

You're welcome
When you update from ZL 6.2.1 to a more recent version, the custom local stored watchfaces won't be accessable through the zepp life app, but they are still stored on the watch.

I updated to the recent version, bought some watchfaces from the store and synched them to the watch.
Uninstalled the zepp life app, Installed the version 6.2.1 and loaded some custom watchfaces to it (manually, not through the AW-app - that crashes.
This way it is possible to have both, the bought watchfaces and also the custom watchfaces on your watch.
