The game sold 8 million copies on November 16, 2004 and 9.3 million copies by December 2008. On July 14, 2006, the Half-Life franchise as a whole sold more than 20 million units [ 10] Half-Life was followed by the 2004 Half-Life 2 sequel, which also received universal critical acclaim.
