Hi,

If the QR code was generated from our site, it will eventually stop working — our QR codes have protection and are not permanently valid.

However, if someone downloaded the actual watch face file and then generated a new QR code themselves, unfortunately there is no real technical protection against that. Once a file is shared publicly, it’s very difficult to control further distribution.

The only stronger protection method would be using time-limited downloads or personal delivery per buyer, but even then, full protection is not guaranteed.

Unfortunately, this is a common issue with digital content.

Best regards.

Good day,

You are upset that someone will buy an appearance from you and then share it with someone else.

To be honest, if I were you, I would be glad that someone bought an appearance from you at all. Because when I open your work, for which by the way you want 3 or more dollars, not a single work is from your workshop and it is stolen from somewhere. That you erase part of the appearance with a pencil somewhere does not make it your work and personally I would not even open such an appearance.

Be glad that the guys from UA tormented by war do not have time to devote themselves to it fully, because half the people here could not even exhibit their works, as they violate copyright.

That is probably all to your reaction to this website and privacy protection. (I think you did not provide a single work for verification of authenticity).

I think that time-limited downloads or individual distribution to each buyer won't solve 100% for your issue.
Because once you send the watch face file to your buyer, they can immediately redistribute it or create a QR code to share it.

Therefore, if you want to prevent your watch face from being redistributed, you would need to create a condition in your watch face script referencing the device specifications of your customer.
This is inconvenient to implement considering the buyer's time (if they don't really want that watch face, they probably won't want to go through steps beyond the normal installation).
I won't go into the method for that. If you want to sell the watches you created, you'll have to invest in studying this yourself (it's part of your business operating cost).

However, as GIK-Team said, "If someone actually downloads the watch face file and creates their own QR code, unfortunately, there's no real technical way to prevent it. Once the file is publicly released, controlling its further distribution is very difficult." I agree 100%.

Regarding creating QR codes with "AW," I'm not sure and you'll have to wait for someone in charge to answer that question.
However, from my experience creating QR codes from a PC, they definitely have a limited lifespan. They can't be used over hour.

Let me clarify how it works.

In the AW app, the QR code is generated for your personal user folder on the server. When you install a watch face, it is uploaded into that folder and replaces the previous file stored there.

So the QR code does not point to a specific watch face file — it always points to your folder.

That means:
  • If someone scans your QR code, they will always download whatever file is currently stored in your folder.
  • If you later upload a new watch face, it replaces the old one.
  • So when you rescanned an old QR code and got your new watch face — that’s expected behavior.
Because of this system, there isn’t a true “time-limited” QR option in AW right now. If someone shares your QR, it will continue working until you upload another file and overwrite it.

Unfortunately, once someone downloads the file itself and generates a new QR independently, there is no technical way to prevent redistribution.

Hope this clears it up

You’re right — right now we truly cannot fully develop the project the way we would like to. The war takes 99.8% of our time and energy, so we operate in a limited mode, mostly maintaining and moderating what already exists.

But we’re still here, still working, and we hope that one day we’ll be able to focus on the project properly again.

And yes — if we had the time to enforce everything strictly, many works here would not pass moderation due to copyright issues.

Thank you for the support and understanding — it really means a lot to us.

This is a battle with windmills, because if they don't send QR codes to each other, they'll send files and upload them to their watches in a different way. You simply can't prevent that.

There would be one option here, but it would probably be impractical – to index the appearance directly to the serial number of a specific user's watch, which would prevent copying of works.

I wish you a nice evening.

It really doesn't seem practical. After all, in that case, you would have to compile a dial for each specific user. I don't follow paid dials and I'm not sure if anyone does that. But technically it is possible. However, if the watch face is simple and only differs in terms of graphics quality, even that may not always help. If someone obtains the watch face file, they will be able to extract the graphic resources from it.

There was a watch face creator on this site who encrypted images in watch faces. But as far as I know, after the latest firmware update, his watch faces stopped working.
