I have a Balance with Zepp Os updated to the latest version.
Xiaomi with Hyper OS2
Notify and fitness for notifications and loading custom WF.
Can anyone with a similar setup tell me if the moon phases work for you?
I can't see them on any customized WF that I download from this site.

I'm not sure which version of ZeppOS you're talking about.
But as far as I know, and as far as I can update, my firmware is version 3.26.4.1.
2. Sync by use Zepp APP with developer mode
I tested using these two conditions and Moon Phase worked normally on my Balance.
The issue you're asking about maybe caused by two or three reasons:
1. Your regional weather data provider may have mistransmitted the data, or there may be a problem with the moon phase data, causing the moon phases to not display correctly after syncing.
2. Sometimes, if you reset the watch at near midnight, moon phases may not display until new data is received from the weather service provider in the morning. (I found this issue in sometime I reset the watch. using the Zepp app as manage devices.)
3. The "Notify and fitness for notifications" program maybe is not sending data, or sending incorrect data, to your device (if you use "Notify and fitness for notifications" as your device manager).
