Can't sync heart rate to Mi Fit app on Android

I can't sync heart rate to the mi fit app on m android phone. I turned on continuous heart rate monitoring on the watch.
When I go for a run, the watch is tracking my heart rate. But after the run, only distance and step data is sent over to the app. No heart rate data. What can I do to fix this?
